Laura Chinchilla

It seems Costa Rica has elected it’s first woman president…Ms. Laura Chinchilla.  Ms. Chinchilla, 50, had about 47% in the early stages of the election, as both the second and third place candidates conceded to Ms. Chinchilla.  

Ms. Chinchilla promised to continue the efforts of the previous president with Free-Trade policies.  Costa Rica has experienced peace and economic development periodically through the Central American region but over the past few years has had an increase in crime rates.  This was a major topic discussed by all candidates during the elections.

Houseboat Rentals

Ok…I said it vacation time.   I know with all the talk about a recession…unemployment levels…and lost jobs, that people hardly have time think about a vacation.  But I have been thinking about a vacation for over 2 years and like many of you, I have hardly had time and money to plan something. 

I looked at the normal vacations out there…like theme parks….cruises….foreign countries.  And to be honest I liked the idea of cruises until I came across houseboat rentals.   It seemed like something unique and different to do….with the same concept of staying in the water.  The best part was that I could be completely isolated but I also have the option to be close to land and emergency facilities if needed. 

The other part of coarse is the activities….you can fish if you like, swim, jet ski, dock in a cove and take a nap, or simply just get away from it all.

Quien Asistirá: Los trabajadores y los representantes de las asociaciones de empleadores, sindicatos, organizaciones religiosas, organizaciones comunitarias, centros de trabajadores, la comunidad médica, profesionales de seguridad y salud, educadores, funcionarios gubernamentales, consulados, la comunidad de entretenimiento, la industria de la publicidad, y otras asociaciones no tradicionales.

La Meta: Reducir las lesiones y enfermedades entre trabajadores latinos aumentando el conocimiento sobre sus derechos laborales y mejorar su capacidad de ejercer esos derechos.

7.0 Earthquake hits Haiti

January 13th, 2010

Destroyed communications made it impossible to tell the extent of destruction from Tuesday afternoon’s 7.0-magnitude tremor, or to estimate the number of dead lying among the collapsed buildings in Haiti’s capital of about 2 million people. Among the missing was the head of the U.N. peacekeeping mission.

International Red Cross spokesman Paul Conneally said an estimated 3 million people may have been affected by the quake and that it would take a day or two for a clear picture of the damage to emerge. Clouds of dust thrown up by falling buildings choked Port-au-Prince for hours.

Ok I really enjoy wine.  Especially red wine….it is probably one of the few things in life that I thoroughly enjoy.  One of the biggest questions I always hear is how do you know what wine goes with what?  So I went to this site that I often check out to see if they had any additional information I could post about the subject.  Here is what I discovered:

Fringe Rules!

Alright….I am officially hooked on Fringe!   No question that this is one of the best shows on TV.  Yes…it is a must watch!   I really got hooked from the first episode….and it just keeps getting better and better.

I dont know if you are a science fiction nut but if you are then this is the show to watch.   I have added a few links to hhelp you understand the show and where you can find the episodes…

I have lost focus???

Ok…so I have tons of work I need to get done and I can not get my head on straight.  I am very unfocused today and I do not understand why???  To be clear…I do not have anything to think about…I just seem to be in a phase.
I wonder if others have been experiencing this recently. I will try to get bakc to work…but it is late so I don’t think there will be much work for me to do until tomorrow.

Ok … así que tengo toneladas de trabajo que tengo que hacer y no puedo enfocarme. Estoy muy dispersa hoy y no entiendo por qué??? Para que quede claro … yo no tengo nada de que pensar o  preocuparme… sólo parece estar en limbo???

Me pregunto si otras personas han estado asi recientemente. Voy a tratar de volver al trabajo … pero ya es tarde, así que no creo que haya mucho a esta hora…hasta mañana.

Enjoying Life

Sooo I have been absent of my site.  In fact I can’t remember the last time I wrote something new in here.  I guess that is because I dont have anything to talk about….
